Mercy Regional Medical Center CEO to resign

Will McConnell, PhD, CEO of Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango, Colo., plans to resign April 10, The Durango Herald reported.

Dr. McConnell has led the hospital for three years. He told the newspaper he is leaving for another opportunity in Arizona.

Dr. McConnell began his tenure at Mercy Regional in 2010. He initially was vice president of process improvement, then became vice president of Mercy Medical Group and operations and outreach strategy. He was named CEO in 2017.

Under Dr. McConnell's leadership, the hospital was recognized for hospital quality and patient care, the hospital said in a news release. Mercy Regional's primary care group, Mercy Family Medicine, also expanded with the addition of clinic locations in Horse Gulch and Bayfield.
