Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., appointed Frances Gomes Marthone, PhD, RN, chief nursing officer.

1. Most recently, Dr. Marthone served as vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, Ga.
2. She previously served as vice president of medical services at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Ga.
3. Dr. Marthone is a member the American Organization of Nurse Executives, American Nurses Association and American College of Healthcare Executives.
4. She holds a PhD in nursing philosophy from Georgia State University in Atlanta.
