Jeff Sherman, CFO of LifePoint Hospitals in Brentwood, Tenn., will resign from the for-profit hospital company for an undisclosed job that is closer to his family in Dallas.
LifePoint Chairman and CEO Bill Carpenter said in a news release that Mr. Sherman "has helped advance our organic growth initiatives, target key acquisitions and position the company to benefit from healthcare reform to create long-term value for shareholders." Mr. Sherman has led LifePoint's financial strategy since 2009, having previously served as vice president and treasurer of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp.
Effective Sept. 14, Leif Murphy will become LifePoint's CFO. Mr. Murphy has roughly 20 years of healthcare finance experience. He has been with LifePoint since 2011 and currently is the company's chief development officer, where he focuses on acquiring new hospitals and advancing LifePoint's markets. Mr. Murphy previously served as president and CEO of DSI Renal, a provider of dialysis services based in Nashville, Tenn.
In an April interview with Becker's Hospital Review, Mr. Sherman gave insight into LifePoint's recent spate of hospital acquisitions and how other hospital CFOs should view their financial strategies today.
