Lancaster General Health announces first chief operating and integration officer, 2 other leaders

Lancaster (Pa.) General Health recently announced the appointment of Steve Littleson, DBA, to chief operating and integration officer and of two others to leadership posts, according to a Lancaster Online report.

Dr. Littleson, who assumed the newly created role in October, was previously regional president at Jefferson Health in Philadelphia. He holds a doctorate in business administration from Walden University in Minneapolis.

The health system decided to create the role of chief operating and integration officer after a third citation from the state health department over a safety event Feb. 15. The hospital was cited after a patient left the hospital wearing staff scrubs and was found about a mile away at a different hospital.

Lancaster General conducted a national search to fill the new role.

Lancaster General Health also tapped Brian Burgess to serve as chief strategy officer and Larry Strassner, PhD, RN, as chief nursing officer.

Mr. Burgess assumed the chief strategy officer role in June. He previously served as senior vice president of strategy and business development for Conshohocken, Pa.-based Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic.

Mr. Strassner was named CNO in September, prior to which he was COO of Medstar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore.
