Kevin Vermeer has officially started his new role as CEO of West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health, according to a report from The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.
Here are four things to know about Mr. Vermeer.
1. His first day as CEO was Jan. 1.
2. He was previously executive vice president and chief strategy officer of UnityPoint and CEO of UnityHealth Partners.
3. He was named president of UnityPoint Health in March 2015 in addition to his title of chief strategy officer, and is now UnityPoint's president and CEO.
4. He takes on his new CEO role as UnityPoint Health works to address a shortage of physicians and nurses, increase diversity using community outreach and working with Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa, Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, and a network of area colleges, according to the report.
