Kaiser Permanente names 2 new C-suite leaders

Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente has named two new C-suite leaders to oversee business development and innovation.

Sam Glick will serve as executive vice president for enterprise strategy and business development, while Shelby Decosta has been appointed chief business development officer.

Mr. Glick, who starts in June, will lead strategy, business development, government relations, communications, innovation, enterprise risk management, Kaiser Permanente Ventures, and Kaiser Permanente International.

He will report to Kaiser Permanente chair and CEO Greg Adams and replace Paul Swenson, executive vice president and chief administrative officer, who is stepping down from the strategy role after more than a decade.

"Sam's broad understanding of the healthcare marketplace, collaborative relationships with industry leaders, and broad leadership experience will help us as we strengthen our enterprise strategy and business development capabilities," Mr. Adams said in an April 29 statement.

Mr. Glick joins the health system from management consulting firm Oliver Wyman, where he has served as global leader of health and life sciences. He previously worked in strategy and corporate development at employer benefits broker Mercer.

Ms. Decosta, who starts in July and will report to Mr. Glick, will work to grow mergers and acquisitions and market and service line expansion for Kaiser Permanente and its value-based care arm, Risant Health. She is currently chief market development officer at San Francisco-based UCSF Health and president of its affiliates network. She has also served in mergers and acquisitions leadership roles at Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health and San Francisco-based Dignity Health.

"Shelby's collaborative, innovative, results-driven approach, as well as her experience establishing and implementing diversified growth initiatives across community and academic nonprofit health systems, will help Kaiser Permanente continue to grow our enterprise," Mr. Adams stated.
