J. Phil Harrop tapped to lead Saint Alphonsus Medical Center-Baker City: 4 things to know

J. Phil Harrop was named interim president of Saint Alphonsus Medical Center - Baker City (Ore.), according to an Idaho Press-Tribune report.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Harrop.

1. He will begin his new role Jan. 9.

2. He will take over for H. Ray Gibbons, who is retiring as president but will take a broader role for the hospital as nursing home administrator, state healthcare advocacy director and a representative for the Eastern Oregon Coordinated Care organization, according to the report.

3. Most recently, Mr. Harrop has served as executive director of operations for Saint Alphonsus facilities in Nampa, Idaho.

4. His previous roles also include interim CEO of Walter Knox Memorial Hospital, now Valor Health, in Emmett, Idaho, executive director of John Stoddard Cancer Center in Des Moines, Iowa, and director of Indiana University Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care.
