Iowa health system CEO to exit

Doug Cropper is leaving his role as president and CEO of Davenport, Iowa-based Genesis Health System.

Mr. Cropper plans to retire from Genesis in June for a full-time leadership role with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, according to a Dec. 12 news release.

The release states that he and his wife, Lynne, will serve as full-time mission leaders with the church. Kurt Andersen, MD, chief clinical officer/chief medical officer for Genesis, was selected as Mr. Cropper's successor, effective in June.

Mr. Cropper has served as president and CEO of Genesis since 2008. Before joining Genesis, he was executive vice president with Falls Church, Va.-based Inova Health System and campus administrator of Inova Fairfax Hospital.

"Doug Cropper's strong leadership over the past 14 years has put Genesis on a positive path forward, even in these increasingly challenging times in healthcare," C. Dana Waterman III, chair of Genesis Health System's board of directors, said in the release. "He will leave a lasting legacy at Genesis, and his passion for quality, and safe and compassionate care for our patients will benefit our community for years to come."
