Hospital for Special Surgery names new CFO

New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery has named Christopher Dunleavy its new CFO.

Mr. Dunleavy will assume the role on Jan. 2, according to a Dec. 2  HSS news release. He most recently served as CFO of Downers Grove, Ill.-based Duly Health and Care, a medical group with more than 1,000 physicians, from March 2023 until January, according to his LinkedIn page.

He brings extensive experience as a health system CFO. His past experience includes serving as CFO of Steward Health Care from October 2021 through January 2023 and as senior vice president and CFO of Boston-based Brigham Health from May 2016 through November 2021.

"Chris was the consensus recommendation of the search committee following a process that identified five exceptional and diverse finalists," HSS president and CEO Bryan Kelly, MD, said in the release. "He is the right person to guide the finance function and enable HSS to lead the changing future of musculoskeletal care."

Mr. Dunleavy will succeed Stacey Malakoff, who is retiring at the end of 2025. She will serve as a senior advisor through the end of next year to support the transition. Ms. Malakoff joined HSS in 1990 and has served as CFO since 1998.
