Penn State Milton S. Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center has named Thomas Tracy Jr., MD, CMO, effective Aug. 15.
Here are five things to know about Dr. Tracy.
1. He comes to Hershey by way of Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School and Lifespan health system, both in Providence, R.I.
2. He currently serves as CMO and senior vice president for medical affairs at Lifespan's Miriam Hospital in Providence, and holds the role of surgeon-in-chief at the health system's Hasbro Children's Hospital, also in Providence. He was previously interim senior vice president and CMO of Lifespan's Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. At the Alpert Medical School, he has served as vice chairman of the department of surgery since 2003.
3. In his new role, Dr. Tracy will be responsible for both the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State Medical Group, combining the previously separate medical center and medical group CMO roles into one, officials said.
4. Dr. Tracy is a graduate of Hamilton, N.Y.-based Colgate University, Albany (N.Y.) Medical College and the Sackler School of Medicine, based in Tel Aviv, Israel.
5. He is currently a member of the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education surgical residency review committee and a senior director with the American Board of Surgery.
