HCA Healthcare selects president, CFO for new North Carolina Division

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare appointed Greg Lowe president of the newly created North Carolina Division, effective April 1. It also named Terence van Arkel CFO of the division, which comprises the Asheville-based six-hospital Mission Health that HCA recently purchased.

Mr. Lowe is CEO of HCA's Chippenham and Johnston-Willis hospitals, a two-campus system in Richmond, Va. He has also served as CEO of Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, Fla. Prior to joining HCA, Mr. Lowe served in CEO roles at hospitals in North Carolina and Tennessee.

Mr. Van Arkel is CFO of HCA's South Atlantic Division in Charleston, S.C. He has prior experience serving as CFO of Regional Medical Center of San Jose (Calif.), Doctors' Hospital of Augusta (Ga.) and JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Fla. He has also served as COO of Doctors' Hospital of Augusta and Trident Medical Center in Charleston.

Ronald A. Paulus, MD, president and CEO of Mission Health, is leaving the role to serve as a strategic adviser for HCA.
