Hays Medical Center CEO Dr. John Jeter to retire next year: 5 things to know

Hays (Kan.) Medical Center CEO John Jeter, MD, plans to retire, effective Jan. 1, 2018.

Here are five things to know:

1. Dr. Jeter has worked at the medical center since 1996.

2. Prior to serving as CEO, he was vice president for medical services.

3. During his tenure, the medical center established the DeBakey Heart Institute and partnered with Kansas City-based The University of Kansas Hospital.

4. Dr. Jeter is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and previously served as the chairperson of the Kansas Hospital Association.

5. The hospital's board of directors plan on naming a successor late this year.
