Savannah, Ga.-based Memorial Health President and CEO Maggie Gill has decided to resign, according to a Savannah Now report.
Ms. Gill is leaving the nonprofit organization "to pursue other professional opportunities," the report notes. The exit date is yet to be decided, but Ms. Gill will stay on to help with the transition. She has been with Memorial since 2004, previously serving as COO of the organization.
Harry Haslam, board chair of Memorial Health, told Savannah Now: "This is solely her decision. She retains the board's support."
Ms. Gill has seen Memorial Health through a number of upheavals, including Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health decision to withdraw from a partnership that would have provided the nonprofit safety-net provider $295 million over the first 10 years of the agreement, according to the report. The breakdown of negotiations was reportedly due to the Chatham County Hospital Authority's changes to the agreement. Memorial Health leases its facilities from the hospital authority.
