Pomeroy, Wash.-based Garfield County Hospital District named Brenda Parnell interim CEO, The Lewiston Tribune reports.
Here are four things to know about Ms. Parnell's appointment.
1. She will serve the district from anywhere between six to 18 months as GCHD searches for a permanent CEO.
2. Ms. Parnell previously served as CEO and superintendent of the Republic, Wash.-based Ferry County Public Hospital District and CEO of St. Maries, Idaho-based Benewah Community Hospital.
3. Ms. Parnell is the third lead administrator of GCHD since Andrew Craigie — who served as the district's CEO for 15 years — left the position to join FastSigns in Lewiston, Idaho.
4. She is entering the position amid financial hardship at GCHD. Ms. Parnell told The Lewiston Tribune she will strive to find the "right size of service delivery for the community needs" to limit the district's reliance on property taxes. She said she will also try to boost patient numbers.
