FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A, a provider of diagnostic imaging products and medical informatics solutions, named two new executive leaders, effective Sept. 28.
Here are 11 things to know about the leaders.
Johann Fernando, PhD, was named COO.
1. In his new role, Dr. Fernando will provide day-to-day leadership and management for sales, medical informatics and modality solutions divisions, business operations and service.
2. Officials said he also leads the effort to expand the company's health IT business and "drive collaboration across business units."
3. Dr. Fernando was trained as a medical imaging physicist.
4. He has worked with the following groups: Picker & Marconi Medical Systems, Agilent Technologies, ADAC Labs and Philips Healthcare.
5. Most recently, he was vice president and general manager for radiation oncology company Accuray.
6. Dr. Fernando earned a Master of Business Administration from Cleveland-based Case Western Reserve University and a PhD in radiology imaging from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
Diku Mandavia, MD, was named CMO.
7. Dr. Mandavia will serve as CMO for FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A. and FUJIFILM SonoSite.
8. In his new role, he will provide strategic leadership for the healthcare portfolio efforts "by overseeing a growing list of activities related to patient care, medical professional networking and health systems interaction," officials said.
9. He currently is a clinical associate professor of emergency medicine at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, is a founding member and past chairman of the American College of Emergency Physicians Ultrasound Section, and is co-director of the National Resuscitation Conference.
10. Previously, Dr. Mandavia was a medical advisor at FUJIFILM SonoSite. He was also an attending staff physician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
11. He received his medical degree from Memorial University in Canada, and is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program.
