Hickory, N.C.-based Frye Regional Medical Center, a Duke LifePoint Healthcare facility, has named Garfield "Gar" Atchison CEO, effective immediately, according to a news release.
Here are five things to know about Mr. Atchison.
1. He has more than 25 years of healthcare management experience.
2. He served as interim CEO of FRMC during its transition to Brentwood, Tenn.-based Duke LifePoint, and most recently served as COO of FRMC since 2014.
3. Prior to serving as COO of FRMC, Mr. Atchison was vice president of business development and market operations director for the hospital's physician network.
4. Before coming to FRMC, he was CEO of Hickory (N.C.) Orthopaedic Center, as well as practice administrator of Bay Street Orthopaedics in Petoskey, Mich.
5. Mr. Atchison earned a bachelor's degree in financial management from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and a master's degree in business administration from Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
