Tim Stover, MD, president and CEO of Akron (Ohio) General Health System, will remain at the helm of the organization through 2017, according to a Plain Dealer report.
Mr. Stover has led nonprofit Akron General as CEO since 2012 and has been with the system since 1993. He recently signed a new three-year contract that will extend his term of service through 2017.
This summer, Cleveland Clinic finalized a six-year agreement in which it bought a minority stake in Akron General for $100 million. After a year, the agreement provides Cleveland Clinic with the option to acquire Akron General.
Akron General employs approximately 5,166 people and has 1,084 doctors and nurses on staff. It is one of Akron's largest private employers with $5.6 million in net revenue in 2012.
