Dr. Paul N. Casale to lead NewYork Quality Care: 5 things to know

Paul N. Casale, MD, has been appointed executive director of NewYork Quality Care, the accountable care organization of New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian, Columbia and Weill Cornell Medicine, according to a news release.

Here are five things to know about Dr. Casale.

1. He joins the ACO from Lancaster (Pa.) General Health/Penn Medicine, where he was chief of the division of cardiology and medical director of quality.

2. Dr. Casale, who is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology and interventional cardiology, is currently a clinical professor of medicine at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

3. He also serves on many national committees, including the National Quality Forum Measure Applications Partnership Clinician Workgroup, and is a member of the American College of Cardiology's board of trustees.

4. He was recently appointed to the Physician-Focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee, which provides recommendations on physician payment models to HHS.

5. Dr. Casale graduated from Medford, Mass.-based Tufts University in 1978 and received his medical degree at Weill Cornell Medical College. He also earned a master's degree in public health from Boston-based Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
