Dr. Maureen Swick named CEO of the American Organization of Nurse Executives

The American Hospital Association has named Maureen Swick, PhD, RN, the CEO of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and senior vice president, nursing of the AHA.

Previously, Dr. Swick served as the senior vice president and chief nurse executive for Inova, a nonprofit healthcare system based in Falls Church, Va. Before that, she held an array of nursing leadership and management roles across the northeastern United States. All total, she has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare.

As the new CEO of AONE, Dr. Swick will oversee more than 9,500 nurse leaders and tackle key initiatives involving workforce, quality and safety, future care delivery models and public policy issues related to nursing and patient care.

"A highly capable and well-respected nurse leader, Maureen's expertise is well-known to healthcare leaders across the country," said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. "Her extensive healthcare background will be instrumental in promoting nursing leadership excellence and helping to shape public policy for healthcare for years to come."
