Brookfield-based Integrated Health Network of Wisconsin has named Ken Bertka, MD, CMO.
Here are six things to know about Dr. Bertka.
1. He began his new role Jan. 11.
2. As CMO, he is responsible for leading all clinical initiatives for IHN, which represents eight owner member health systems, more than 8,100 physicians and providers, 1,160 clinics and 52 hospitals in Wisconsin. Specifically, he will have oversight of multiple areas, including clinical integration, care navigation and management, the adoption of best-practice care protocols and target metrics by IHN providers, and the analysis and monitoring of clinical quality, utilization and outcomes.
3. Dr. Bertka has more than two decades of experience leading clinical information technology initiatives, medical practices and multifacility implementation of EHR systems.
4. Most recently, he was at Cincinnati-based Mercy Health, where he was CMO and vice president of Mercy Health Physicians–Toledo and Mercy's clinically integrated network in northwest Ohio.
5. Dr. Bertka was one of the first physicians in the nation to be board-certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in clinical informatics, according to a news release. He is also board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
6. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Toledo (Ohio), and then earned his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati.
