Dr. Creagh Milford picked to lead Mercy Health's population health services: 6 things to know

Cincinnati-based Mercy Health has named Creagh Milford, DO, president of the health system's Population Health Services Organization.

Here are six things to know about Dr. Milford.

1. He began his job in September.

2. In his role, Dr. Milford will lead Mercy Health as it "provide[s] best-in-class support to our clinically integrated network," Brent Asplin, Mercy Health chief clinical officer, said in a news release. He added, "We have successfully recruited nearly 1,300 employed providers and we intend to partner with other groups across Ohio and Kentucky to improve the health of patients, boost the health of the communities we serve and provide more efficient care."

3. Dr. Milford joins Mercy Health from Partners HealthCare and Harvard Medical School in Boston. Previously, he was associate medical director for population health management at Partners. At Harvard, he was previously an instructor in medicine and healthcare policy.

4. Dr. Milford also has been a health policy analyst for CMS and HHS. In that role, he focused on health IT and value-based purchasing. Additionally, Dr. Milford was a consultant with the American Medical Association on patient safety and clinical quality.

5. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University.

6. He did his residency at the University of Chicago-North Shore and a fellowship at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital, and then earned a master's degree in health management from the Harvard School of Public Health.
