Dayton VA Medical Center CEO Glenn Costie to retire in October: 4 takeaways

Dayton (Ohio) VA Medical Center CEO Glenn Costie is retiring, effective Oct. 28, according to a Dayton Business Journal report.

Here are four takeaways:

1. Mr. Costie led the VA medical center since 2011.

2. During his tenure, the center redesigned and updated its main campus and saw an 11 percent increase in veterans served.

3. Mr. Costie also stepped in to help other VA hospitals navigate troubled times. He headed the Phoenix VA Medical Center from July to October 2014 in the midst of a national scandal centered on VA backlogs and long wait times.

4. He also worked at VA medical centers in Chicago, Cleveland, Connecticut, Maryland and Missouri.
