Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has announced several senior executive and clinical leadership appointments, including a new COO and CFO.
Dorothy Puhy, who has served as CFO and assistant treasurer for Dana-Farber since 1994, has been named executive vice president and COO. Ms. Puhy will direct ongoing strategy development and the prioritization of strategic initiatives.
Karen Bird, senior vice president of finance, will succeed Ms. Puhy as CFO and assistant treasurer. Ms. Bird has held several financial positions at Dana-Farber beginning in 1999. In her new role, she will be responsible for leading the development of Dana-Farber's financial strategy.
Dana-Farber's clinical leadership appointments include:
• Lawrence Shulman, MD, will direct the newly created department of regional strategy development, expanding on his previous role of director of network development. He has also been appointed director of the newly-established Center for Global Cancer Medicine. Dr. Shulman will also assume the role of chief of staff, succeeding Stephen Sallan, MD, who will become chief of staff emeritus.
• Craig Bunnell, MD, MPH, MBA, has been promoted to CMO. He formerly served as associate CMO.
