Denver-based HCA-HealthONE appointed Dan Miller president and CEO of The Medical Center of Aurora (Colo.).
Here are six things to know about Mr. Miller.
1. He took over in his new leadership role Oct. 5.
2. He replaces Richard Hammett, who left TMCA in August after being named CEO at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo.
3. At TMCA, Mr. Miller will oversee the medical center's four campuses, which include two freestanding emergency rooms and an array of services, including a Level II trauma center, and a comprehensive cardiovascular program with two accredited chest pain centers and a new Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement program.
4. The new position for Mr. Miller is a reflection of the results he has achieved at Swedish, officials said, which include:
- The opening of a new burn critical care unit and outpatient clinic earlier this year.
- Leading the development of the comprehensive cancer program allowing Swedish to become the third hospital in the country to be pancreatic cancer accredited and the fifth in the country to be lung cancer accredited by The Joint Commission.
- Overseeing multiple neuroscience construction projects, operating room projects and women's services renovations.
5. Mr. Miller moves to his role as CEO after 12 years with Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America serving in various administrative roles.
6. He received his Bachelor of Science in human and organizational development from Vanderbilt University and his Master of Science in health administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
