John Solheim, CEO of Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, Minn., will resign from his position, effective Oct. 14, according to a Brainerd Dispatch report.
Mr. Solheim made the announcement during a Monday night board meeting. He is leaving the hospital as it transitions from a public hospital district to a private nonprofit organization, according to the report.
Mr. Solheim joined Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in June 2012, after resigning as president and CEO of St. Peter's Hospital in Helena, Mont.
He was criticized last year at CRMC, as employees reported being bullied by the administration and talked of a hostile atmosphere, according to the report. However, he denied allegations of bullying in an interview with the Brainerd Dispatch at the time. Still, he acknowledged there were high expectations and some people had trouble adapting to the changes.
When the board voted in May to change to a private nonprofit, board member Jolienne Lundquist proposed a motion for the conversion be contingent upon asking Mr. Solheim for his consideration of resignation, according to the report. However, the report notes, subsequent votes to ask Mr. Solheim to resign failed multiple times.
