Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, the parent company to Community Healthcare System and its Indiana hospitals in Munster, East Chicago and Hobart, has announced the promotion of two members of its senior leadership team.
Here are 10 things to know about the two members.
John C. Gorski, PharmD, COO of CFNI, was named president and CEO.
1. Having started his career as a pharmacist, Dr. Gorski has devoted more than three decades to improving the delivery of healthcare.
2. As CFNI's COO, Dr. Gorski has overseen the strategic growth and development of the system's three nonprofit hospitals brought together in 2001 to form the Community Healthcare System.
3. Prior to directing the operations of Community Healthcare System, Dr. Gorski spent 23 years at Munster-based Community Hospital, beginning as director of pharmacy and advancing to director of ancillary services.
4. At Community Hospital, Dr. Gorski initiated major service line expansions.
5. In a prepared statement, Dr. Gorski said his goal has been, and will continue to be, "to lead from the heart, touching the lives of all who come here with healing and compassion." "This is a transformational time in healthcare and as such I embrace the challenge of improving the patient experience while also exploring new ways to lower the cost of care," he added.
Donald P. Fesko, OD, CEO of Community Hospital, will take over Dr. Gorski's role as COO while remaining CEO of Community Hospital.
6. Dr. Fesko started his professional career as an optometrist, serving on the boards for CFNI and Community Hospital before becoming CEO of the hospital in 2005.
7. In addition to serving as Community Hospital's CEO, Dr. Fesko is the president of the Community Cancer Research Foundation.
8. In his role as CEO of Community Hospital, Dr. Fesko has undertaken a number of significant building and technology expansions. Under his leadership, the hospital has also received numerous national recognitions for the delivery of high quality patient care.
9. Dr. Fesko was honored with the 2014 AmericanCollege of Healthcare Executives Regent's Award for the state of Indiana.
