Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems has revealed the future board of directors and additional future executives for its planned spin-off company, Quorum Health Corp.
Here are three things to know about the board and executive officers.
1. CHS previously named Thomas Miller CEO and Michael Culotta CFO of Quorum Health, and announced Martin Smith will serve as executive vice president of operations. Three additional future executives of the new company were named. They are:
- Shaheed Koury, MD, was named senior executive of quality and medical staff relations. He currently serves as vice president for quality and clinical transformation at CHS.
- James Hayes was named a senior executive of operations. He currently serves as vice president of operations at CHS.
- R. Harold McCard Jr. was named general counsel. He currently serves as vice president and deputy general counsel at CHS.
2. Future Quorum Health Corp. board members are:
- James Breedlove, former senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Praxair.
- Adam Feinstein, co-founder and managing partner of Vesey Street Capital Partners, a healthcare services private equity fund.
- William Gracey, former president and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Tennessee.
- Joseph Hastings, DMD, private practice orthodontist in Mobile, Ala.
- William Hussey, former president of CHS' Division IV and current president of CHS' Division VI Operations. He currently manages hospitals in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina and is responsible for all corporate and hospital support for 25 hospitals.
- Thomas Miller, president of Division V Operations for CHS. He oversees the operations of affiliated hospitals in Indiana, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
- Barbara Paul, MD, senior medical advisor to CHS.
- R. Lawrence Van Horn, PhD, associate professor of management and faculty director at Vanderbilt University's Owen School of Management in Nashville, Tenn.
3. Commenting on the board of directors and executives, Wayne Smith, chairman and CEO of CHS, said in a news release, "Quorum Health Corp. will be established with a highly committed and knowledgeable board of directors. These directors come with a broad range of experiences and expertise, including operational, clinical, financial and academic expertise from the healthcare sector.
