CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn., has named Larry Schumacher, MSN, CEO, effective Jan. 4, according to a Chattanooga Times Free Press report.
Here are four things to know about Mr. Schumacher.
1. He succeeds former CHI Memorial CEO James Hobson, who resigned in July.
2. Mr. Schumacher is the former COO of Springfield, Ill.-based Hospital Sisters Health Systems. He left HSHS earlier this year after an apparent disagreement with HSHS President and CEO Mary Starmann-Harrison, according to the report, which cites an article in The State Journal-Register.
3. Prior to HSHS, he was president and CEO of Via Christi Health Network in Wichita, Kan., and executive vice president and COO of Mercy Health Network in Des Moines, Iowa.
4. Mr. Schumacher has a degree in nursing from the Burge School of Nursing in Springfield, Mo., a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Missouri State University in Springfield, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Indiana University, a system with campuses in Indianapolis and Bloomington.
