Chestnut Health Systems CEO to retire in 2018: 4 things to know

Russell J. Hagen, CEO of Bloomington, Ill.-based Chestnut Health Systems, is retiring, effective Jan. 7, 2018.

Chestnut Health Systems is a private, nonprofit organization that offers addiction treatment, mental health services and other behavioral healthcare services.

Here are four things to know:

1. Mr. Hagen has served as CEO of the organization for 36 years.

2. He has worked at Chestnut Health Systems for 43 years, joining what was then known as Lighthouse in 1974.

3. During his tenure, he established the Lighthouse Institute research and training division and developed Chestnut's international employee assistance program.

4. Following his retirement, Mr. Hagen will work part-time for two years supporting Chestnut's global employee assistance program.
