Cherokee Regional Medical Center CEO John Comstock to retire

John Comstock, president and CEO of Cherokee (Iowa) Regional Medical Center, has announced plans to retire in September, according to the Sioux City Journal.

Mr. Comstock has served as president and CEO of CRMC since joining the organization in 1996. He previously served as senior vice president for the Iowa Hospital Association. He has more than 35 years of executive experience in the healthcare industry.

While at the helm of CRMC, Mr. Comstock oversaw the development of major infrastructure changes at the hospital through various construction projects including The Beck 32-unit senior living complex and the Wellness Center. Additionally, he directed multiple remodeling and expansion projects of the hospital itself while increasing the number of healthcare services available locally to area residents. He also helped coordinate CRMC's affiliation with UnityPoint Heath, including UnityPoint Health- St. Luke's in Sioux City, and the implementation of the Epic EMR system.

CRMC's board of directors and CRMC-affiliate UnityPoint Health, based in Des Moines, Iowa, named David Liebsack, CRMC's current senior vice president to be the next president and CEO.
