Cesar Villalpando, who joined Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals in March 1988, resigned from his post as senior vice president of the organization's enterprise shared services division in July.
Here are five things to know about Mr. Villalpando.
1. He joined the enterprise shared services division as senior vice president in October 2014. In this role, he led the development and execution of Kaiser Permanente's strategy for shared services, including a plan to achieve $2 billion to $3 billion in savings.
2. As senior vice president, Mr. Villalpando also oversaw Kaiser Permanente's pharmacy organization, which has roughly 15,000 employees, and end user services and technology support, which encompassed a workforce of almost 200,000 people.
3. Prior to this role, Mr. Villalpando served as senior vice president and chief administrative officer for Kaiser Permanente's northern California region from August 2010 to October 2014. He also held the role of interim senior vice president of area operations from February to September in 2014.
4. Mr. Villalpando held various consulting and analytics roles throughout the southern California region when he was initially hired at Kaiser Permanente. He also held various positions at hospitals and inpatient psychiatric organizations from 1985 to 1988 before joining Kaiser Permanente.
5. Mr. Villalpando holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from California State University in Northridge. He also holds memberships with various professional organizations, including the California Hospital Association and The Conference Board's Shared Services Council.
