After serving for 27 years as president and CEO of Frederick, Md.-based Calvert Memorial Hospital and Calvert Health System, James Xinis has announced he will retire on Feb. 28.
Mr. Xinis is largely credited with transforming Calvert Memorial from a small, nonprofit community hospital to a major institution and regional healthcare provider.
Including his 27 years with Calvert, Mr. Xinis' career in healthcare administration has spanned roughly four decades.
Prior to joining Calvert in 1987, Mr. Xinis worked for 10 years at Prince George's General Hospital and Medical Center in Cheverly, Md., working his way up to associate administrator before moving on to Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Cumberland, Md., as executive vice president.
Dean Teague, who has been serving as COO at CMH since 2012, has been appointed as Mr. Xinis' replacement in March.
