Catholic Health Association CEO Sister Carol Keehan to retire: 4 points

Sister Carol Keehan, president and CEO of the Catholic Health Association of the United States, is retiring effective June 30, 2019.

The Catholic Health Association is a group of nonprofit healthcare providers aiming to advance the Catholic health ministry of the United States. It is composed of 600-plus hospitals and 1,600-plus long-term care and other health facilities.

Here are four points:

1. Sister Carol assumed the leadership roles in 2005. She is the ninth president and CEO of CHA.

2. In 2010, she was named one of Time's "100 Most Influential People in the World." She played a key role amassing political support for passage of the Affordable Care Act.

3. She has previously served as president and CEO of Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C.

4. Sister Carol has also served as board chair of Ascension's Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola, Fla.
