J. Anthony Rose, president and CEO of Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, N.C., is retiring at the end of December, according to a Hickory Record report.
Mr. Rose has led the medical center since 1993. During his tenure, the hospital changed its name from Catawba Memorial Hospital to Catawba Valley Medical Center, and it earned the American Nurses Credentialing Center's magnet recognition.
Additionally, Mr. Rose played a key role in growing the hospital's facilities. CVMC opened a neonatal intensive care unit in 2012.
Eddie Beard, the hospital's COO and chief nursing officer, will take over as president and CEO, according to the report.
