Carthage (N.Y.) Area Hospital has selected an interim CEO, whose identity was not revealed at the time of the announcement, according to a Watertown Daily Times report.
Hospital officials said while the interim CEO has not yet accepted the offer, the organization will launch a "comprehensive search" for a full-time CEO. Until the top candidate accepts the offer, CAH President Brian Scott will serve as acting CEO.
The interim CEO will succeed Walter S. Becker, who was asked to retire. According to the report, financial struggles associated with his handling of a construction project are a major factor in his forced retirement, which is effective at the end of the year.
