Vishal Bhatia, MD, has been appointed senior vice president and CMIO for Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare, effective Jan. 1.
Here are five things to know about Dr. Bhatia.
1. He is a board-certified internist.
2. He has been in practice at Capella's Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville, Ore., since 2006. Most recently, Dr. Bhatia was medical director of the hospitalist program and has held numerous leadership roles at the hospital, including chairman of the department of medicine.
3. He has served as a consultant and physician advisor for Capella since 2014, and he serves on the board of Willamette Valley Health Solutions, an accountable care organization.
4. Dr. Bhatia also is clinical assistant professor of internal medicine with Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, Calif.
5. He earned his medical degree from Tver State Medical Academy in Tver, Russia, followed by an internship at Northern Railway Central Hospital in New Delhi, India. He completed a residency in internal medicine at The University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. Since then he has earned a Master of Business Administration with a focus on healthcare from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
