Michael Lally, CEO of Calais (Maine) Regional Hospital, resigned June 23, according to a Bangor Daily News report.
Here are three things to know about Mr. Lally.
1. Mr. Lally has served as CEO for the past six years during which time the facility received recognition from Leapfrog Group for three years in a row for superior rural hospital service quality and patient safety.
2. During his tenure as CEO, Mr. Lally made a decision to reduce hours for 90 employees and lay off a handful of workers in order to help rein in a deficit of more than $500,000 in the first two months of fiscal year 2014, according to the report. Also, in 2012, the hospital cut 13 positions in order to offset a $1 million loss during the first five months of the year, the report reads.
3. Bert Whitaker has been hired to take over for Mr. Lally while the hospital board conducts a national search for a permanent CEO.
