Boston Children's Hospital appointed David Williams, MD, chief scientific officer, according to a Boston Business Journal report.

1. Dr. Williams is the chief of hematology and oncology and director of clinical and translational research at the hospital.
2. He is president of Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center and is the director of its pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship training program.
3. He helped establish Dana-Farber/Boston Children's gene therapy program and his research focuses on blood stem cells, leukemia and gene therapy.
4. He has completed fellowships at Harvard Medical School, Boston Children's and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, all located in Boston.
5. In his new role, Dr. Williams will grow the hospital's precision medicine efforts and advocate for its research community.
