Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center CEO to retire in April: 5 notes

John Barrett, CEO of Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk, Va., is retiring April 13, according to a report by The Virginian-Pilot.

Here are five notes:

1. Mr. Barrett assumed the CEO role in May 2011.

2. During his tenure, he oversaw the expansion of the minimally invasive surgery program and the development of Bon Secours DePaul Medical Plaza.

3. He previously served as executive vice president/COO of Appalachian Regional Healthcare System in Boone, N.C.

4. Richmond-based Bon Secours Virginia recently appointed Paul Gaden CEO of Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va., and Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center. He is slated to join April 2.

5. Mr. Barrett will work closely with Mr. Gaden to ensure a smooth transition.
