Robert "Bo" Cofield was named vice president and chief clinical operating officer of Lexington-based UK HealthCare, effective mid-August.
Here are four things to know about Mr. Cofield.
1. In this newly created position, Mr. Cofield will join Michael Karpf, MD, executive vice president for health affairs, UK HealthCare-University of Kentucky as a member of an executive leadership team that includes Mark Birdwhistell, vice president for administration and external affairs; Murray Clark, senior vice president for health affairs and CFO; and Frederick de Beer, MD, vice president for clinical academic affairs and dean of the College of Medicine.
2. Mr. Cofield will lead clinical operations for the UK HealthCare enterprise and be accountable for the operations of UK HealthCare hospitals, managed facilities, ambulatory and provider-based clinics, off-campus and outreach clinics, ancillary services, and the infrastructure to support such operations, including information management and technology.
3. Mr. Cofield has served as associate vice president for hospital and clinics operations of University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville since February 2010. As the COO of the UVA Medical Center, he has been responsible for the effective management of the center's clinical services and operations.
4.
