St. Louis-based Ascension has appointed Bernie Sherry to lead its Wisconsin operations, effective April 4.
Here are four things to know about Mr. Sherry.
1. He currently serves as COO of Ascension's Saint Thomas Health in Nashville, Tenn.
2. Prior to his COO role, Mr. Sherry was executive vice president system integration for Saint Thomas Health, and president and CEO of Saint Thomas Midtown and Saint Thomas West hospitals, both in Nashville.
3. In his new role, Mr. Sherry will replace Vince Caponi, who has served as interim Wisconsin Ministry Market executive since Jan. 1 and was instrumental in finalizing plans for the Southeast Wisconsin operations of Glendale, Wis.-based Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare to join Ascension Wisconsin.
4. "Ascension has been a longstanding contributor to the health and economic activity of Wisconsin through these mission-focused health systems, which combined employ more than 24,000 dedicated associates including more than 1,000 medical group physicians," Mr. Sherry said in a prepared statement. "I'm looking forward to leading the health systems of Ascension Wisconsin as we work even more closely together to improve the health and well-being of Wisconsin residents."
