In an effort to expand its footprint and improve its cost-cutting initiative, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has promoted six executives, according to Crain's Detroit Business.
Last December, the insurer revealed its plan to slash $300 million in costs by 2018. Now, BCBS of Michigan is "investing in opportunities to expand business into markets of significant growth potential — including Medicare Advantage — while we work to strengthen our core health business to improve our financial and market strength," CEO Dan Loepp said, according to the report.
The insurer currently manages Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield's Medicare Advantage claims.
As part of its plan, BCBS of Michigan has promoted the following executives:
- Mark Bartlett, executive vice president and CFO, has also been named enterprise CFO.
- Ken Dallafior, executive vice president for commercial business, will add the role of president of Blue Cross' Core Health to his current duties.
- Elizabeth Haar, CEO of the Accident Fund Group and senior vice president for subsidiary operations, will also serve as president of Emerging Markets, which manages Blue Cross' Medicare Advantage program.
- Tricia Keith, senior vice president and corporate secretary and services, has been promoted. Though she will continue in her current role as corporate secretary, she will also serve as executive vice president and chief of staff.
- Mary Smith will become senior vice president for quality and risk adjustment products and services.
- Julie Smith will become senior vice president for senior health services.
