Baton Rouge General CEO Mark Slyter leaves post; gives no explanation

Baton Rouge (La.) General/General Health System President and CEO Mark Slyter has stepped down from his roles. The hospital's COO Edgardo Tenreiro will serve as acting CEO while the nationwide search for a permanent CEO is underway.

The hospital has not yet given a reason for this departure. According to a report by The Advocate, neither hospital officials nor Mr. Slyter were available for comment. Mr. Slyter led the hospital through a number of shifts and strategic changes during his time there. Earlier this year, BRG closed the emergency department at its Mid City campus as part of a "clinical redesign of services."

Mr. Slyter also helped move BRG's partnership with New Orleans-based Ochsner Health System forward, according to The Advocate. The partnership will financially integrate the two organizations. Oschner and BRG intend the partnership to move forward, despite Mr. Slyter's departure.
