Atrium physician exec heads to Baptist Health

Jacksonville, Fla.-based Baptist Health has appointed D. Brandon Chapman, MD, as the inaugural vice president of medical affairs for two hospitals.

In his new role, Dr. Chapman will serve as the liaison between the administration and medical staff at Fleming Island, Fla.-based Baptist Medical Center Clay and Jacksonville, Fla.-based Baptist Medical Center South.

He comes to Baptist Health from Lexington, N.C.-based Atrium Wake Forest Lexington Medical Center, where he most recently served as associate chief medical officer. He also previously served as associate CMO of Atrium Wake Forest High Point Medical Center in High Point, N.C.

Dr. Chapman is the third vice president of medical affairs at Baptist Health. The system introduced the role as part of its dyad leadership model, allowing clinicians to work closely with hospital presidents and administration for strategic and operational responsibilities, according to a May 13 news release.
