St. Louis-based Ascension selected Karen Springer to serve as president, healthcare operations within Ascension's healthcare division, effective Jan. 1, 2018.
Ms. Springer has served as senior vice president of Ascension Health and Tennessee Ministry Market Executive since 2015. She also currently serves as president and CEO of Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health, a role she has held since 2011.
During her time leading Saint Thomas Health, the organization expanded their medical missions in new counties and also formed a partnership with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools to inculcate an interest in healthcare professions among high school seniors.
She serves as board chair for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville and is active on the Nashville Healthcare Council's board of directors.
In her new role, Ms. Springer will focus on advancing enterprise excellence and will oversee Ascension Healthcare's small and medium Ministry Markets.
