Nashville, Tenn.-based Ardent Health Services and Austin-based the University of Texas System are set to acquire Tyler-based East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System and have appointed a new leadership team.
ETMC will rebrand as UT Health East Texas. Ardent Health will assume majority ownership and manage daily operations at the system once the deal is finalized, which is expected by March 1.
Moody Chisholm will serve as its president and CEO, and Eric Roach will assume the CFO role.
Mr. Chisholm most recently served as regional vice president for Salt Lake City, Utah-based Intermountain Healthcare's five-hospital central region. His prior experience includes serving as CEO of St. Vincent's Healthcare in Jacksonville, Fla. He succeeds Elmer G. Ellis, who plans to retire Feb. 28.
Mr. Roach comes to UT Health East Texas from Community Health Systems in Franklin, Tenn., where he served as vice president of finance. He previously served in a similar role at Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates and as CFO of Regional Hospital of Jackson (Tenn.).
"We are pleased to welcome these accomplished leaders and look forward to providing the support and resources they need to further advance this new system," said David T. Vandewater, Ardent's president and CEO, in a statement.
