Allegheny Health Network names new CEO: 4 things to know

Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network has named Cynthia Hundorfean president and CEO, effective in February.

Here are four things to know about Ms. Hundorfean.

1. She has three decades of healthcare experience including hospital management, physician integration strategies, implementation of strategic alliances, joint ventures, service line affiliations and mergers and acquisitions.

2. She currently serves as chief administrative officer at Cleveland Clinic. There, she had direct operational and financial oversight of 25 clinical institutes encompassing over 190 sites and 23,000 employees, as well as matrixed oversight of eight regional hospitals, 16 family health centers, Cleveland Clinic Florida in xxx, regional physician offices and several other areas, including quality and patient safety. She also oversaw a $5.5 billion net revenue budget from clinical operations.

3. In her new role, she will be based in AHN's corporate office in Pittsburgh and report to David Holmberg, president and CEO of AHN's parent, Pittsburgh-based Highmark Health.  

4. She will replace John Paul, who is leaving to become a special advisor to Mr. Holmberg.
