Dia Nichols is the incoming president of Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care, a role in which he will oversee 11 Illinois hospitals, the system announced Sept. 13.
Mr. Nichols' appointment is effective Sept. 25. He will report to Bill Santulli, president of Advocate Health – Midwest. Mr. Santulli reports to Advocate Health Co-CEOs Jim Skogsbergh and Gene Woods. Mr. Nichols succeeds Dominica Tallarico in the role.
As Advocate Health Care president, Mr. Nichols will oversee 11 hospitals and 300 sites of care. He joined Advocate in 2021 as president of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill., and the system's Central Chicagoland Patient Service Area.
Mr. Nichols previously served as president of AMITA Health – Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, Ill. Before then, he spent nearly 18 years with Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare.
Advocate Health Care is part of Charlotte, N.C.-based Advocate Health, the third largest nonprofit health system in the U.S. formed by the merger of Advocate Aurora Health, headquartered in Downers Grove and Milwaukee, and Charlotte-based Atrium Health.
