After around one month as interim CEO of Manchester, N.H.-based Elliot Health System, Gary Muller has left the post, according to a New Hampshire Union Leader report.
Mr. Muller began his role as interim CEO on July 18. Over the past weeks, he openly advocated building a new Elliot Health System hospital, rather than renovate an existing one. However, the hospital board has not yet voted on the issue. Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth-Hitchcock and Elliot are considering an affiliation that could bring in millions in new investment, according to the report. Through the affiliation, Dartmouth-Hitchcock would help Elliot pay to build a new facility or renovate one of its current facilities.
Hospital officials declined to comment on Mr. Muller's departure and did not confirm if his advocating for a new hospital was a factor.
A statement released by Elliot states Mr. Muller and the health system agree "that with the longer term and strategic commitment that Elliot will require to complete a partnership agreement, it is not in their mutual best interests for him to continue as the interim CEO," according to the report.
