9 latest hospital, health system CEO moves

The following healthcare CEO moves were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Margo Karsten, PhD, CEO of Cheyenne (Wyo.) Regional Medical Center, is resigning, effective Sept. 2.

2. The Detroit Medical Center named Luanne Thomas Ewald CEO of DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan, effective July 1.

3. Thomas E. Wilhelmsen Jr., president and CEO of Nashua-based Southern New Hampshire Health, will retire June 30 after 28 years of service.

4. Jon Duval, CEO of Richmond, Va.-based VCU Hospitals and Clinics and vice president for clinical affairs, announced plans to retire, effective Sept. 30. He will stay on as an advisor to the health system through March 17, 2017.

5. Donald D. Trexler was named CEO of Acadia General Hospital in Crowley, La., part of Lafayette (La.) General Health.

6. Mark McHugh was named assistant CEO of Commonwealth Health Berwick (Pa.) Hospital Center.

7. Darcy Burthay, MSN, BSN, RN, was named president and CEO of Providence Health System in Washington, D.C., part of St. Louis-based Ascension, effective July 1.

8. Florida Hospital Medical Group, which is affiliated with Orlando-based Florida Hospital and a subsidiary of Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System, appointed Howard Drenth CEO.

9. Luis Molina was named CEO of Munster, Ind.-based Community Hospital, effective July 1.
